What does wealthy mean to you?

As a Financial Adviser, it is my job to help people use the resources at their disposal to achieve their goals and dreams. Most people desire to achieve Financial Freedom and possibly even become “Wealthy”. But what does “Wealthy” mean to you?

Wealthy could mean owning your own home or it could mean having total assets of more than $2 million. The important thing that I have learned over the years is that money does not make you happy but struggling week to week can bring you down emotionally. I believe that everyone has the ability to stay in the black, for some people that will mean sacrificing more than others, but if you are willing to do the hard yards, you will reap the rewards.

Since starting my first full time job (after struggling through Uni for a year on 2 minute noodles), I remember living from pay cheque to pay cheque. It was hard but it was not impossible. Unfortunately through my difficult year at uni, I had racked up some credit card debt so my first goal was to pay that down as quickly as possible, so all remaining funds went on to the card. It took time but gradually the amount I was able to pay off increased and the debt decreased and while it was a difficult start, it also taught me a very strong lesson, one which I am still grateful for today. Since then, I have never put anything on the credit card that I have not been able to pay off immediately.

My husband and I do not want to be multi-millionaires (although we probably wouldn’t complain if we were), we just want to own our own home and have the freedom to travel every year or two. Some Financial Planners are more focused on their own goals then they are on their clients. I think that my clients trust me, because I don’t want for much myself. Everyone understands that I must get paid for what I do, but I mostly do what I do, because I love helping people and seeing them achieve their goals. So if you or anyone you know is in the market for high quality, unbiased Financial Advice, please pass on my details.
